The Nix Collection
Shirley gave me a Ruege 3/72 music box for Christmas 1981. I liked it, so she gave me another one for Christmas in 1982. We then started looking for antique music boxes and bought everything we could find.
Now we have about 100 of all kinds, from snuff boxes to the largest disc boxes. Plus over 25 pneumatic instruments including street organs (Monkey Organs), reproducing pianos, 3 violanos (One double and 2 that play duet), a Dutch Street Organ, a Duwyn Cafe Organ, A-roll Pianos, 2 Wurlitzers, Link, North Tonawanda Pianolin, European Orchestrians, and Band organs including the 38 Ruth from Sherrie Krugoff. Shirley liked all of them too, and we both loved showing them off.
San Sylmar – The Nethercutt Collection
Starts with a huge museum filled with beautifully restored automobiles from around the early 1900s. Behind the auto museum there is a train whose engine pulls a Pullman car.
Across the street is a four-story building (plus basement), that shows off many collections, including automobiles. There are more than two stories of musical Instruments including one of the largest pipe organs in the world. Many of the best artists have recorded using this organ. Also included in the collection, is a huge display of automobile mascots (hood ornaments).
Brush up on your dancing. We’ve got a hell of a band.
