The Mid-America Chapter of MBSI will hold a joint meeting with AMICA October 7 – 9, 2022 in Marion, Ohio
Marion, Ohio is the home of President Warren G. Harding, Mary Ellen Withrow (the 40th Treasurer of the United States), and the world’s largest popcorn museum. We have a fun-filled weekend planned including museums, tours, open houses, and good fellowship.
FRIDAY:
2:00 – 532 W. Center St. Marion Union Station. The station showcases an Impressive collection of memorabilia and the Atlantic Crossing Tower. The station is located between 2 diamond cross-overs.
3:30 – 220 E. Fairground St. Huber Manufacturing Museum. Drive into the Fairgrounds and the museum is located behind the race track on the east side. This museum contains examples of Huber’s finest steam and gasoline tractors, threshers, and road-building equipment.
Dinner on your own. Most downtown restaurants are open on
Friday night and there is restaurant row on Rt. 95 by the motels. (A list of restaurants will be included in your registration packet).
After dinner you my wish to visit the Harding Memorial on the corner of Delaware Ave. and Vernon Heights Blvd. It is the largest and most beautiful presidential memorial outside of Washington D.C.
SATURDAY:
9:00-11:00 169 E. Church St. Heritage Hall (Marion County Historical Society and Wyandot Popcorn Museum. Private tour. History includes stories and memorabilia of Mary Ellen Withrow, President Harding, Rod Serling (Twilight Zone), Jim Thorp (Olympian and football player) plus much more Including the popcorn museum. YOU SHOULD PARK BEHIND THE MUSEUM AND ENTER THROUGH THE DOOR WITH THE CANOPY ONTHE STATE STREET SIDE.
11:00-12:30–Open houses at Dave VanOosten 364 E. Church St. and Mike and Linda 1012 Forest Lawn Dr. If you enjoy music boxes, phonographs, reproducing pianos, nickelodeons, organettes, jazz and street organs clocks, lithophanes, Tiffany lamps, and orchestrions – you are in the right town.
12:30 – Lunch on your own.
2:00-3:30 VanOosten and Perry open houses.
3:45 – 380 Mt. Vernon Ave. Harding Presidential Library and Museum and Harding Home. At 4:00 PM half of the group will tour the Harding Home and half will tour the new Harding Presidential Library. President Harding’s home is 95 percent original in content and the contains more than 5,000 items. TheHarding Presidential Library is the official repository of the Harding artifacts and presidential documents. View the fully restored A. B. Chase Artecho reproducing piano. At 5:00 the tours will switch.
6:15 – Dinner at the Harding Presidential Library followed by a business meeting and speaker, Sherry Hall, site manager.
SUNDAY:
9:00 – AMICA business meeting at Dave VanOosten’s
10:00-2:00 Open house at Dave Ramey’s Marysville, Ohio
