The Musical Box Society has published a large volume of work on automatic musical instruments. You are invited to view the complete index of articles which have appeared in the MBSI journal, Mechanical Music, available in three different sorts (1) Chronologically (ITEM); (2) by AUTHOR, then Category (CAT), then ITEM; (3) by Category (CAT), then AUTHOR, then ITEM. Just click on any of those column headers to obtain the desired sort.

For the period 1954 to 1986, there is no accompanying information concerning the subject of the article or a summary. Beginning with 1986, the index includes additional information about the referenced article.

Members logged on to the MBSI web site may view articles listed in the index in their entirety by clicking on the title of the article.

Clicking on any article in the index should take you to the exact page of the journal on which the article appeared. The year, volume, issue, and page number is shown at the very top of the screen. In some cases, you may not see the page you want. That is because in some years MBSI assigned page numbers to the covers and in some years the publisher did not. If the page you are viewing does not contain the article you are seeking, we suggest using the SEARCH capability at the top of each page. Clicking on articles in the Search "hits" should take you to the page you are looking for.

Missing Publications:
Item 38, Volume 3, No. 2, 1956 and Item 206, Volume 11 No. 1a, 1965 are unavailable. If a copy of either publications is found it will be added to the online archive in the future.
Publications are added approximately 6 months after publication date.
